Hold on to your drumsticks, folks, because in Bobby Brown’s beautiful autobiography, “Every Little Step: My Story,” he cooked up a story that’ll make your jaw drop – and your taste buds tremble!
Picture this: Bobby was just 10 years old, innocently trying to help out his family by making dinner. His dear ol’ mom, who had a secret side hustle, used to sell cocaine to make ends meet. But Bobby had no clue about that!
So, there he was, all eager and ready to cook up some finger-lickin’ goodness – fried chicken! You see, he’s seen Mama Brown whip up that delicious dish. But this time, things took a bizarre turn. Our hero, thinking he’s grabbing a bag of good ol’ flour to coat the chicken, accidentally grabs a bag of something else entirely. Can you guess what? Yup, you got it – it was a bag of cocaine!
Now, mind you, Bobby wasn’t exactly a seasoned chef, and he had no clue what that “flour” really was. So, he goes ahead, tossing the chicken in that powdery substance, completely unaware of the explosive flavor he’s about to create.
When his mom returned, she couldn’t believe her eyes! Bobby had really taken the initiative to make dinner. How sweet! But as she got closer, she sniffed something strange in the air. And as she looked at the chicken, she probably wondered if Bobby was trying some avant-garde culinary experiment.
Turns out, Bobby was about to serve up a new family delicacy – “Cocaine Chicken”! You can imagine the look of horror on his mom’s face when she realized what he’d done. Can’t blame her – I mean, who’d expect such a twist in a classic family recipe? I can see her now subtracting profit.
The funny thing is, Bobby had no idea what he had just cooked. He chowed down on the chicken, feeling weirder with each bite. But hey, he was just a kid, so he couldn’t identify that strange smell emanating from the pan.
Months passed, and finally, the truth hit him like a high note on stage – he had fried chicken in cocaine! Yep, he’d accidentally created a radical new fusion dish that wouldn’t be showing up on any Michelin-star menus any time soon.
As a teen, while working at Church’s Chicken, I used to seriously wonder if there was cocaine in their flour because of how addicted customers were to the chicken.
And so, dear readers, that’s the tale of how Bobby Brown unintentionally became a culinary innovator, all thanks to his adventurous spirit and a mix-up in the kitchen. Cocaine chicken – a dish you won’t find in any cookbook, but a story you won’t soon forget!
I’m paraphrasing, of course, but if you want to hear more stories from Bobby Brown himself – from his relationship with Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, being molested by a priest, and more – try Audible Plus.
